Fun and Easy Magic Tricks for Kids
Magic is an art that fascinates people of all ages, but it is especially fun for children. Learning simple magic tricks can not only boost children’s confidence but also stimulate their creativity and problem-solving skills. Below you’ll find fun and easy magic tricks that children can learn and perform to amaze their friends and family.
The Floating Pencil
With this trick, it looks like a pencil is floating in the air. All you need is a pencil and some invisible thread. Attach the thread to the pencil and hide the other end behind your ear or under your clothing. Gently pull the thread while pretending to move the pencil with your hand, making it float in front of the audience.
The Card Cutting Trick
Ask a spectator to choose a card from a deck and show it to you, but don’t reveal which one it is. Then cut the card into pieces with scissors. When you put the pieces back together, the card is whole again! This is achieved by using a duplicate card and secretly swapping it during the trick.
The Magic Wand Vanish
For this trick, you need a small magic wand and a piece of cloth. Place the wand under the cloth and let the audience believe you made it disappear when you lift the cloth. In reality, you are simply holding the wand between your thumb and forefinger while pretending to hide it.
The Thumb Disappearance Test
Make your audience believe you can make your thumb disappear by hiding it behind your hand. Bend your index and middle fingers into your palm and keep your thumb up. As you quickly move your hand to your face, secretly lower your thumb and hide it behind your hand. It now looks as if your thumb has vanished!
The Surprising Ball
Make a small ball disappear and reappear with a simple sleight of hand. Hide the ball in your palm and pretend to throw it into your other hand. While doing this, quickly close your hand and let the ball drop into your palm, making it look like it vanished. Repeat the move to make the ball reappear.
The Magic Coin
Place a coin on your hand and cover it with a cup or another object. As you move your hand under the cup, secretly let the coin slip into your sleeve. Lift the cup to reveal that the coin has disappeared. You can then make the coin reappear from another hidden place, such as behind someone’s ear.
The Enchanted Handkerchief
Push a handkerchief into your fist and make the audience believe you can make it vanish. When you open your fist, show that the handkerchief is gone. In reality, you quickly tucked it into your sleeve as you opened your fist.
The Color-Changing Flower
Show a fake flower to your audience and tell them you can change its color. Gently pull on the petals while pretending to say a magic spell, then reveal that the flower has changed color! This can be done using a flower with reversible petals, where one side is a different color from the other.
The Disappearing Water
Pour water into a cup and cover it with a piece of paper. Turn the cup upside down and show the audience that the water has vanished! In reality, the water has been absorbed by a special gel hidden inside, making it invisible and creating the illusion that it disappeared.
The Colored Pencil Trick
Ask a spectator to choose a colored pencil from a box and hide it in their hand. Using subtle hints and questions, you correctly guess the color of the pencil. This works by paying attention to small clues, such as the spectator’s reactions when you ask certain questions.
The Candy Box
Show a box of candies to your audience and ask a spectator to pick one and show it to you. As the spectator puts the candy back, close the box and turn it around so it looks like the candy has disappeared. Open the box again and reveal the mystery: the candy has reappeared!
The Floating Towel
Attach a piece of invisible thread to a towel and make the audience believe you can make it float in the air. By carefully pulling the thread, you can make the towel appear to float while moving your hands around it.
The Candle Trick
Show an empty candle holder to your audience and tell them you can make a candle appear. Place your thumb at the bottom of the holder and pretend to show your hands empty. Then quickly pull back your thumb while producing a candle from your sleeve or another hidden spot.
The Magic Playing Card
Ask a spectator to choose a card from a deck and show it to you, but don’t tell you which one it is. Shuffle the deck and let the spectator put the card back. Then, you can miraculously make the card appear by using a secret stack of cards or by finding it with the help of subtle hints and clues.
The Balloon Trick
Show a balloon to your audience and tell them you can make it float without a string. Blow up the balloon and release it into the air while pretending to cast a magic spell. The balloon will magically seem to float in the air thanks to the static electricity generated when inflating it.
